Celebrating 102 Years in Kerrisdale
Back in 1921, when Kerrisdale Lumber started in business, horse and wagon brought them much of their merchandise. Other goods came by rail car delivered to one of three sidings on the West Boulevard. In those days you could buy a thousand board measure for the costly price of $10.00. Sidewalks were made of wood and were cleared of snow by a one-horse plough.
In 1948, Tremayne Perry joined the Company. Bert's son started out as a yard man piling lumber and driving truck, eventually becoming President.
A third generation (Mark Perry) joined the Kerrisdale Lumber team in 1974, and following in his father’s footsteps, became and is the current acting President. A fourth generation of the family now works at Kerrisdale Lumber, representing the families of each of Tremayne’s three children.
The business has evolved from a neighbourhood hardware store to a diverse company with contractor supply, hardware, home décor, outdoor living and BBQ divisions. Our focus remains the same, providing extraordinary customer service to communities that support us while improving the spaces they live in.
Thanks to your continued support and loyalty over the years, we have been growing and expanding our business, and in 2019, we were so excited to announce the expansion into two different locations!
In 2020, we were proud to open Kerrisdale Lumber Home, full of Outdoor Living and Home Items, and Kerrisdale Lumber Contractor Division, our Building Supply & Lumber Division of the Company. Years in the making, we were so happy to finally have our doors open and welcome everyone with open arms.
One week after our Grand Opening in March of 2020, we decided to shut our doors at both locations to the public in the midst of Covid-19, offering curbside pickup and online business. We made big strides towards getting the majority of our business on our website, and we have been growing over the past year!
Thank you for your continued support, we value our community, new and old. We hope to see you around the shop soon!
